Foundry Services at Quaker City Castings

At Quaker City Castings, we provide a full suite of foundry services that go beyond casting alone. Our value-added capabilities—blasting, welding, heat treating, machining, and non-destructive testing—are all executed with the same level of care and precision as the castings themselves. Whether you’re ordering a single prototype or a full production run, we deliver parts that are finished, functional, and ready for the real world.

Our team doesn’t design your parts—we execute your designs with accuracy, consistency, and pride. From start to finish, we help you streamline your supply chain by offering the critical post-casting services you need in one place.

Our Core Foundry Services

Casting

Casting is the heart of what we do. We pour high-quality steel, iron, and nickel-based alloys into custom molds to create precise components for demanding applications. Our capabilities include both no-bake sand casting and centrifugal casting, giving us the flexibility to produce everything from complex geometries to dense, seamless cylindrical parts.

  • Alloys Available: Carbon steel, stainless steel, ductile iron, gray iron, nickel-base alloys
  • Casting Types: Sand castings, centrifugal castings, custom shapes and sizes

Heat Treatment

After casting, many parts require controlled heating and cooling to achieve the desired mechanical properties. Our in-house heat treatment services enhance strength, hardness, and wear resistance—tailored to your specific alloy and application.

  • Benefits: Improves toughness, reduces internal stresses, enhances durability
  • Processes: Normalizing, annealing, quenching, tempering

Machining

We provide precision machining to take your casting from raw to finished. With our in-house CNC and manual machining capabilities, we ensure parts meet your exact specifications—down to the thousandth.

  • Capabilities: Turning, drilling, milling, tapping, and more
  • Output: Close-tolerance components, finished to print

Welding

Our welding team adds strength and structure where it’s needed most. We weld in accordance with your design—whether it’s repair welding or joining multiple cast components into an assembly.

  • Use Cases: Component repair, assembly welding, structural reinforcement
  • Welding Methods: Manual arc, TIG, MIG, and more depending on the job

Blasting

Surface preparation matters. Our abrasive blasting services clean castings and remove scale, flash, or other surface impurities. This step ensures better finishes, improved coating adhesion, and visual inspection clarity.

  • Media Types: Steel shot, grit, and more
  • Purpose: Cleaning, surface prep, cosmetic improvement

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

We perform non-destructive testing to verify the integrity of your parts without damaging them. Our NDT process helps catch defects like cracks, voids, and inclusions before they ever reach the field.

  • Methods: Magnetic particle testing (MT), dye penetrant (PT), ultrasonic testing (UT), visual inspections
  • Purpose: Quality assurance, compliance, peace of mind
